Rouzbeh Kamali

Rouzbeh Kamali is an Iranian-British artist, poet and writer. He moved to London around eight years ago and has since been living and working in exile. Rouzbeh has an established background in writing and criticism. His poems, stories and articles have been widely published across Persian-language websites and periodicals. He has worked as a freelance contributor with media outlets including BBC Persian, and has appeared as a commentator and critic on BBC Persian TV’s literature and cinema programmes.

More than a decade ago, Rouzbeh held several painting exhibitions in Iran. After relocating to London, he returned to painting, initially working on canvas before gradually shifting toward digital art and print-based practices. His first London exhibition was held in early 2026 at Open Ealing Arts Centre.

Rouzbeh’s visual practice centres on digital artwork and collage, with a focus on the human face and body, proportion, and the relationship between figure and space. His work is informed by theatre scenography and Persian literary traditions, and draws on a contemporary visual language shaped by Iranian and Eastern decorative aesthetics.

Working across image and text, Rouzbeh integrates ornament, pattern, and layered composition through modern digital processes, creating visually rich works where structure and decoration function together as core elements of the image.
