Rita Ovanessoff

Rita is a London based artist of Armenian origin working in both stoneware and earthenware clays.

Her work is the result of her dedication and enjoyment of working with the medium of clay, creating decorative wares and sculptures. She uses the versatlity of clay in the expression of her work, which is mainly inspired by organic shapes.

She builds all her works by hand to achieve her individual designs and aesthetic forms using different methods such as coiling and slabbing, incorporating the use of coloured slips and oxides with the clay body emphasising the glossy shine of the glazes with the contrasting matt texture of the clay.
