Rita Ovanessoff
Rita has a background in fashion and design and when she was introduced to ceramics, she knew it was her vocation. She graduated in a course in ceramics and design and ever since then, working with clay has become her passion and priority.
Rita is a London-based ceramicist exhibiting her work in London and surrounding areas. She enjoys the versatility of clay in the expression of her work, using various techniques to achieve interesting shapes and designs. She uses different clays to produce her unique sculptural and decorative designs, mainly inspired by natural materials and textures like stone, metal and wood. Her work is entirely built by hand using coiling, slabbing, oxides, slips and glazes to emphasise the contrasting matt texture of the clay body with the glossy shine of the glaze.
