Vicky Goldsobel
My work explores the emotional charge of colour, texture and memory. Working primarily with paint and sometimes mixed media, I build layered, tactile surfaces where landscape, water, foliage and form shift between representation and abstraction.
The art that surrounds us all the time inspires me, reflections on water, city parks, little worlds in worlds. I’m equally interested in the quieter visual language of every day - the design of a postage stamp, the colour combinations in old packaging, the objects we choose to live with. These fragments of daily life hold as much interest for me as a landscape. They are the small joys that often go unnoticed.
I also exhibit my sketchbooks as part of my practice. They reveal the thinking and play behind the finished works: colour notes, compositional studies, scribbled ideas, fragments of text and playful explorations. By sharing them, I invite viewers into the process, not just the polished outcome, but the curiosity, experimentation and fun that drive the work forward.
