Rebecca Wellburn
I studied fine art at Central St Martins, graduating in 1999. Like many people I struggled to keep my practice going alongside work commitments and parenting, but in recent years I have returned to painting and have been inspired to develop themes from my earlier work.
My abstract work explores the fragmented nature of memory and what can be fleetingly evoked by colour, pattern or a glimpsed object. My figurative work has been a more recent development, born out of an interest in life drawing as well as my work as a therapist. Both involve noticing small shifts in the way the body is held and how our emotions are expressed in the absence of words.
