Moira Walker
I began painting in the winter of 2017 and by 2019 discovered a love of watercolour. I really enjoy its transparency, unpredictability and looseness, its vibrancy and spontaneity, its surprising versatility, the extraordinary colour range, and then, when needed, there’s the opaqueness of gouache.
I try to depict subjects that interest me and am drawn to light, drama, colour and movement. I endeavour to capture the atmosphere of things I find visually appealing and/or are outside of my comfort zone and therefore challenging.
Sketching with graphite, ink, charcoal and pastels sometimes precedes a painting but sometimes is the finished piece; I also dabble with acrylic. Basically, I like to vary my style and experiment with different techniques trying to suit the medium to the subject and to have some fun!
