Hanwell Pottery
Hanwell Pottery is a thriving ceramics studio based at Hanwell Community Centre, where there has been a pottery since the 1960s.
Weekly sessions run throughout the school year, during mornings, evenings and some weekends with capacity for over 120 potters, although not all at once!
In addition to our regular sessions, Taster sessions are available for people to spend three hours exploring clay, allowing them to decide whether to delve deeper into the vast and varied world of ceramics and creating.
All potters work on their own projects in the large communal space, which is well-equipped with tools and equipment, catering for wheel-throwing, hand-building and sculpture. Colour and texture incorporated into students’ work, using a wide variety of slips and glazes before firing in the centre’s kilns, ensure that each piece is truly unique.
Over 25 Hanwell Pottery students will be exhibiting and selling their creations at BEAT 2025, representing the diversity of work produced in the studio, including sculpture, decorations, jewellery and lots of functional ware. You can see information about the makers and a selection of their work on our website www.hanwellpottery.co.uk you can also meet them during Beat 2025 to talk about their favourite subject – ceramics!
