Sarah Knight

Sarah takes inspiration from textures and light in the natural world. Each piece usually starts as a reflection on a place travelled to. They develop from pencil sketches focused on composition, line and form. Each one trying to capture the essence of a small detail in the world.

The original prints have been carefully handmade by the artist using the linocut printing technique. Each design is a limited edition. Each print has pencil details added and is signed by the artist. Because of the method and the hand finishing, each impression is unique.

The textured oils are created using the hand mixed inks/paints prepared for the linocuts. Sarah has been painting semi-abstract, windswept landscapes using rollers and palette knives, working mainly from memory. She draws over the paint surface with pencil, linking the pieces with the common thread of colour and line.
