The Refresh Art Award

The Refresh Art Award is a contemporary art competition and we are specifically welcoming artists who work with 21st century topics. We are accepting 2 dimensional artworks this year which includes graphic design, drawing, painting, illustration, ceramics, glass art, textile print, the list is not exhaustive!

There are a couples of rules; 16+, no photography, still life (no fruit bowls please), life drawing, hyper-realistic portraiture or artists who are already represented by large commercial galleries.

Our competition is different to others. Firstly, it is artist led and self funded; we do not have any big institution backing us. Secondly we understand what artists go through, applying for endless commissions, residencies and competitions and in some cases not even getting a reply. We promote all of our entrants via social media and everybody has the chance to sell their work, if they wish on our online gallery.

We have made our competition financially accessible. £10 for the first artwork and £6 each for 3 more subsequent artworks. Early entrants benefit from up to 6 months free promotion on social media and our online gallery. 24 entrants will be shortlisted for our exhibition which will be held at 5th Base Gallery in Shoreditch in June. The main Refresh Art Award is a £3000 cash prize and there are other smaller prizes to be won, such as a Prize of Our Times and Drawing Special Mention.
