Sandra Easton
From earliest childhood I have always drawn and painted and have a particular interest in landscape. I have a degree in Fine Art and latterly a diploma in Person Centred Art Therapy which helped me in my job working with special needs students and also in my own artistic practice. I have lived in Ealing for many years and am lucky enough to spend time in Norfolk where I find inspiration and delight in the varied East Anglian countryside. Short trips abroad and to new places also provide me with ideas and source material which I record with location sketches, photographs and later studio drawing to aid memory and composition. Most of my work is made with pastel, charcoal or paint. I find pastel particularly appealing in the variety of colours and potential for varied mark making and freedom of gestural expression it offers. I love drawing trees and they populate my landscapes with their many different forms and strong presence. I aim to convey the particular spirit of the place I am painting as it presents itself to me.
