Olivia Pelham

I am a multidisciplinary artist, currently studying BA Fine Art at Goldsmiths University. My practice has developed and evolved a lot over recent years, particularly since the beginning of my studies. Materially, my work involved painting and drawing, however, since starting university, the incredible accessibility of workshops and assistance of trained technicians has granted me so much invaluable knowledge. I find myself experimenting with new materials and ideas frequently and gaining experience in many forms. This has allowed my work to flourish, taking many exciting and unexpected paths. I now indulge in a wide range of processes such as printmaking, drawing, poetry, loom weaving, ceramics, natural dyes and little bits of photography.

My work hopes to give opportunity to indulge in what is meant by natural pattern and form. I am extremely interested and invested in physical properties of plant life and their unique needs and habitats. Looking deeper into naturally occurring fibres and their enriching histories through craft and culture has been such a pleasure to allow time for and has made me think more and more about their relationships and similarities to ourselves and what we are made of.

My passion for the environment and its inhabitants grows stronger each day and I am dedicated to using handmade or second-hand materials as much as possible. I look forward to making new work for BEAT over the summer months and meeting more of the Ealing community. Expect to see prints, drawings/paintings, textile works and much more!
