Neera Sehgal

Neera’s Work explores layering patterns and images using Indian woodblocks. The blocks hold a familiarity unlike other printmaking tools, she finds the process of mark making through these a meditative practice.

Traditionally applied in the textile industry, Neera focuses printing with these blocks beyond these uses. Her diverse work embraces a connection and respect to a traditional art form through unexpected compositions.

She designs her blocks which are then carved by skilled craftspeople in India, a collaboration between cultures and generations linking her past and present to her heritage. Her work is founded on a desire of sharing the beauty of this craft through time and across generations.

Her work was exhibited at the RA Summer Exhibition 2024.
