Kazuko Battocchi, Anne Marie Reilly

Anne Marie and Kazuko are two local potters who live in Northfields. They met at Hanwell Pottery some years ago and have been following each other’s development with interest and encouragement.

When Kazuko first came to London from Japan some twenty years ago she brought with her passion for pottery. Now her pottery is inspired by family, friends and the different cultures she has experienced. It is an ongoing journey as she explores identity through her art.

Anne Marie's first love was working on the wheel producing both functional and decorative pieces. During lockdowns when she did not have access to a wheel she turned to hand-building and was surprised by much she enjoyed this approach which allowed her to create more varied forms. No two pieces are the same and Anne Marie welcomes the imperfections of handmade work representing the flaws in us all.
