Assia Bennani

My name is Assia, I am a Moroccan artist based in Ealing, West London.

I grew up in Casablanca and spent the last 20 years between Paris and Hong Kong where I worked as an interior designer and wall decorative painter. I live now in London where I am fully committed to my painting practice.

My recent works are inspired by scenes that moved me by their poetry and ordinariness. I paint them from pictures or memory. Exploring and blending through this process, time, spaces and sensations. I am also inspired by all the countries I had the chance to live in and cultures that I have encountered. I enjoy mixing aesthetics of these different cultures in my work, aiming to create a calming harmony between layers of colours, texture and patterns.

I use mostly acrylic and oil paint but enjoy other media like ink, gouache or collage.
