Assia Bennani
For as long as she can remember, Assia has been drawing as a way to escape, reflect, or heal. From a young age, she decided to pursue an artistic career, and at 18, she left her native Morocco to study Interior Design in Paris.
In 2006, after her first professional experiences in Interior design, she moved to Hong Kong, where she worked for 14 years as a mural artist and began exhibiting her first paintings in 2018.
Her paintings seem to dance between fiction and reality, belonging to no particular place. She sees them as visual bridges between multiple realities, cultures, and time frames, where characters often coexist with an abundant playful nature, sometimes imagined, sometimes remembered.
Through poetic and free compositions, her paintings invite the viewer to dream and explore a rich inner world.
While her artistic practice comes from a therapeutic place, Assia hopes that her work brings to those who discover it a joyful moment of poetry, comfort, and a sense of connection.
She uses mostly acrylic paint but enjoys other medium like ink, gouache or oil paint.
