Diana Braybrook
My aim as an artist is to seek out and share something positive.
I like to explore a variety of themes in my paintings, as each presents me with fresh opportunities and challenges, but all my work is inspired by the colours, shapes and quality of light I see in the world around us.
This year I shall be showing a mix of paintings of places, people and plant life, plus a selection of affordable giclée prints and colourful art cards.
I paint mostly in oils because of the quality of colour and subtlety of mark making that they enable me to achieve. For my mixed media paintings, I enjoy experimenting with a mix of collage, inks, watercolour and acrylic paints.
In my landscapes and townscapes, I am interested in generating a sense of space and quality of light, in conveying the ‘spirit of place’. I use a mix of direct observation and memory to communicate my experience of being there. Certain colours or features are emphasised or changed to generate an underlying abstract pattern of shapes and colours, adding strength and balance to the composition.
Each painting is unique, my response to a memorable experience, special place or particular season – a poem without words.
I live in Ealing but work from my studio space at Osterley Park & House, Isleworth.
