Vivienne Caley

Abstract paintings in watercolour and ink. My work is about fundamental shapes, using geometry to give an underlying structure, that imply something beyond the everyday reality. The use of pattern suggesting harmony and spirituality, a glimpse into another world. I like the way geometrical patterns invoke spiritual feelings. People have called geometry sacred. The medium I use is watercolour and ink because it gives a bright flat colour. I also use gold and silver to give the pictures a luminous quality. Again suggesting another level of reality. The use of pattern gives the works intensity in the use of a small scale, with intricate details, to draw you into the work.
