Susie Heyes
Susie is primarily a landscape water-colour artist focussed on the use of colour and capturing moods.
Her landscapes explore the importance of nature for our well-being. She draws influence from a wide range of artists, cultures and places.
Susie has produced numerous landscapes in Ealing, Osterley, Bushy Park and Richmond, capturing the mood of the place along with some of the abundant wildlife within the area, especially birds. Some of her more recent works take from Japanese and Eastern influences creating a sense of calm, stillness and mood.
A primary school teacher for over 20 years, she suffered a life-threatening period of severe depression and anxiety. Painting became the cornerstone of her recovery. In many ways, every brushstroke represents a part of her recovery. Art has given her hope and opened up a whole new path in her life.
Susie hopes others can be inspired to use creative outlets to aid mental wellbeing. She leads art classes as therapeutic support for the mental health charity Mind, facilitates online groups for ‘Build on Belief,’ and ‘Turning Point‘, as well as running an after school art club.
This will be Susie’s third BEAT. This year she will be based at home, in W13, where she paints. She’ll have over 100 originals and prints on sale as well as some fun activities for children (weather permitting).
As ever, 10% of all Susie’s profits will be going to the mental health charity, Mind.
Have a lovely BEAT and we look forward to seeing you.
