Nancy Jones

Pottery and painting are my retirement hobbies. I started learning pottery to find out why and how white-coated forms went into a kiln and came out dressed in brilliant glossy colours - and got hooked.

I love throwing on the wheel, and enjoy the creative buzz arising from the infinite combinations available - of shape, colour, texture and decoration. There is always something new to try out, so my pots are all different.

I use porcelain, sometimes stoneware, and make my own glazes in my tiny garden studio.

I also love to paint. Watercolour is lovely, but oil is so much easier. Having lived in Mauritania for decades my pictures are mostly of local themes, from camels to fishing boats,

but in London trees and flowers sneak in too.
