Maria Murtagh
Having been a potter for many years, I am happy to say that I continue to be inspired and excited by working with clay and relish every kiln opening with the same joy as ever. I am really enjoying my current journey in exploring the Moon Jar form and also in creating a range of pieces inspired by photos from deep space. I continue to be inspired by Far Eastern ceramics and there is also a Celtic influence in some of my decoration. I still produce a range of jugs, mugs, bowls and vases designed to become part of the family and used every day. All of my work is individually thrown and finished on the potters wheel before being fired and then glazed using my range of stoneware glazes. The pieces are fired to 1280 which makes them all food safe, microwaveable, dishwasher and oven proof. I believe firmly that none of my pots are truly finished until they are being used, loved and enjoyed by a new owner.
