Elinor Percival

My work is primarily inspired by light, the way it impacts our lives, and its inherent appeal to us.

Since Biblical times, light has been used as a metaphor for goodness, and in the Bible itself it is repeatedly used as a way of describing the beauty of God when all other descriptions fall short. I love to find new ways of capturing this idea in my art, whether attempting to capture a sunset in watercolour, or engineering patterns by shining light on dichroic glass.

While I don't use explicitly Biblical or Christian imagery in my work, I see creating art as an act of worship, and in viewing my work, I hope that people experience beauty, which is something I experience in my faith.
