Sarah Stanley Mosaics

I create original contemporary mosaics. Each piece is completely unique; handmade using a wide variety of materials including glass, porcelain, ceramic, mirror, stone and marble.

My mosaic pieces are mostly abstract, playing with colour and using shade, tone, hue, texture, cutting and laying to create depth and interest and to emphasize the unique qualities of each material.

Most of my work is for domestic interiors and gardens - art pieces for the wall and 3D sculptural items as well as more practical decorative pieces such as large serving platters, tables, trivets, coasters and stepping stones.

I also make a collection of mosaic jewellery every year in lovely bright jewel colours and neutral tones – pendants, brooches, earrings and rings – again each one is unique, no two pieces will ever be the same.

For six weekends a year I also teach workshops in Hanwell (for both beginners and the more advanced) – these are a really great way to spend a creative weekend and learn about this wonderfully addictive craft. We always have a lively time – full of colour and laughter and chatter.

In addition to BEAT I take part in a number of art fairs throughout the year which is a great way to exhibit alongside other artists and I work extensively to commission for private clients (and the occasional corporate and public art piece) and especially enjoy this opportunity to create work that is intensely personal to the recipient.

This year I am really looking forward to joining with other artists at the wonderful Open Ealing Art Centre and Gallery.
