Juliet Goodden
For 50 years I've been drawing and working in oil paint, interpreting the world around me through observing and responding. Always about specific times and places, I have grown to love painting in public spaces, engaging with people whose experiences can enrich my own.
One project focused on the diverse religions that are practised in the UK. I drew and painted inside, outside and during prayer times, learning about the traditions, similarities and differences between religions.
Throughout the pandemic I focused on Soap as a still life subject, reflecting the new emphasis on hygiene and staying home. This has developed into less domestic imagery as freedom re-entered our lives and is still part of my work. Most recently I am revisiting the Thames, which I explored and painted in the 70s as a student, as well as making portraits of various buildings along its banks and in the city. I am a trained teacher and now run art groups and work with individuals. I would love to hear from anyone interested in joining.
