Christine Shirley

I have always been inspired by the beauties of nature and have evolved over many years through a variety of techniques and skills. I love to work from real life, as well as imagination. I seek to express the beauty and magic in life, people and nature. I love oil painting because of the strong depth of colours and the slow process through which a painting grows. However I also love to explore fast ways to work that display speed and movement, and water with drawing materials to capture a sketchy feeling. I explore and find influence from many artists and subjects. In people and animals I like to express the individuality and the subtlety of light as it reveals the mysterious qualities of the subject. A soft focus gives my images a feeling of aliveness as if they may suddenly move. I work on Commissions and small exhibitions.
