Annie Leach
Annie would describe herself as a Contemporary Botanical Artist. While her paintings are accurate and realistic they are not intended to look photographic.
Inspiration for her work comes from the front gardens she passes every day as well as the beautiful parks in and around London. There are many other gardens she visits when travelling around the UK and she often stays in Barbados where inspiration is endless. Her work explores the patterns and shadow created by leaves, flowers, berries, fruit, and the changing colours of autumn, however many of her paintings simply demonstrate the beauty of flowers.
There is not a `meaning` to Botanical Art, but it evokes memories and feelings. Many people have a favourite plant or colour, or want something special for a relative or friend. There are others who prefer something unusual, while a piece of work may simply be appreciated for the detail included. Annie enjoys the challenge of creating art for all these emotions.
