Angelika Berndt
My art processes are based on my wish to explore image making as a form of expression, and my work ranges from expressive abstracts to documentary photography. A restless explorer in search for knowledge and understanding, I use colour and form to find new means of understanding and insight.
While my photography is based on micro-studies about culture and living circumstances, my fine art serves as a means to withdraw and give myself a space to create and process impressions I accumulate through my other projects and life experiences. Through these challenging yet often liberating processes I search to understand how form and colour evoke an inner resonance in our selves and allow the mind to expand. Using line and colour I search for a new understanding of the media and the human mind. Both art forms have long since become a means to study our human existence and relations.
At this year’s BEAT I will be exhibiting a fine selection of framed drawings representing my work with pastels and charcoal, colour pencils and a few examples of my oil paintings.
