Many interesting and varied artists take part in BEAT every year, from first time exhibitors to seasoned professionals and their details are outlined in the Artists section of the website. But in this section we publish interviews carried out with selected artists, delving deeper behind the scenes and into their lives and work. We hope you enjoy finding out more about them.
Over the next few months we will be introducing you to a selection of our 2019 Artists, many of whom have been exhibiting with BEAT since it's inception in 2016.
Sarah has exhibited with BEAT since its inception. She is both a painter and a print maker, creating textured oil landscapes and botanical themed linocut prints.
I studied Foundation level art with a view to taking a Fine Art degree and developing my career in art from there. As it happens, my path took a different turn and I ended up studying Psychology and working in advertising for twenty years. But I always kept a desire to do something with my art and when I eventually got enough space at home to put an easel up, I started painting again. This then became something I ran as a business ‘on the side’ until I decided to take the plunge and quit advertising to go full-time as an artist.

I have always been drawn to the creative arts, from my hairdressing days in the 60/70s to copying miniskirts from Mary Quant and Biba.
I was tutored in the 1980s at Windsor College’s Embroidery City & Guilds course by the world-renowned textile artists Jan Beaney and Jean Littlejohn.
When you arrive at Sarah’s house, the beautifully planted tubs and window boxes suggest that it belongs to a particularly artistic gardener. When you step into her front room and see the array of paintings depicting meticulously drawn flowers and vegetables, you realise just how talented this artist and gardener is!
David Wiseman is a prolific painter, art teacher, loving father and a big admirer of nature. Above all David is a great storyteller through his vibrant acrylic paintings, which look perfectly alive and in constant change like nature itself.
A mural depicting an abundance of magnificent flowers cascades over the hallway walls and the ground floor is hung with an array of beautiful painting and prints. This is clearly the home of an artist! In fact there are two artists here – three you count Alex and Anna’s seven year old daughter Molly, who has already sold several of her portraits of pets and toys, raising money for the cancer charity, Myeloma UK, and even designing a Christmas ecard for them.
