Wilde and Sinclair

Victoria is a Hanwell-based designer-maker whose work is influenced by her love of nature, fairytale and vintage illustration. Her PhD thesis (King’s College London) examined the use of European fairytales and folklore, particularly the tales of the Brothers Grimm, in nineteenth-century art and literature and on film.

Victoria has lectured on Victorian fairy painting, the Pre-Raphaelites, and the Gothic in art and film. She has also worked at Leighton House Museum in Kensington and digitised nineteenth-century newspaper illustrations for a British Library project. To create her designs, she draws directly on to a drawing tablet. The designs are then printed on paper, fabric and ceramics.
