The Powell Creative

Mother and daughter, Louise and Sennen, love the creative process and employ different techniques to express theirideas to reflect the world around us.

Sennen comments, 'I’m 14 and photography has always been a great pleasure for me as it’s my way of showing people how I perceive the world. I am intrigued by the natural world and especially birds; it’s loud and messy and complex but underneath all this it’s pure perfection - I love to capture these hidden moments. My main inspiration for wildlife photography was Chris Packham through his quirky and unique view of the world.'

Louise loves using watercolour with its slightly unpredictable, chaotic nature and its capacity for instant expression. She applies boundaries to the image using fine black ink which works to highlight and define. The theme of colour and fun is carried through to the ceramic pieces, which are rarely planned and tend to evolve in the studio. Louise loves experimenting with different glazes, which often provoke huge excitement when a piece is released from the kiln. Some of her illustrations are printed onto textiles including cotton tops, aprons and bags. She loves the idea of art that travels with you, and which can be practical and enjoyed in many different ways.

Both Sennen and Louise very much look forward to welcoming you to their home and hope you enjoy their work.
