Phillip Julian

Phillip Julian creates figurative abstracts, toying with a long and loaded history of visual experimentation. He utilises constructs of the traditional, implementing formalist concerns to create compositions of playful but delightful power.

Phillip Julian has exhibited widely in public galleries and critical acclaimed artist initiatives in Australia, New Zealand the United States and Europe.

Phillips works are included in drawing survey collections of the National Gallery of Australia and of Auckland City Gallery New Zealand as well as in private collections.

University of Sydney, Visual Arts, BA Honours, First Class, 1991 to 1994.

Recipient of the Sir William Dobell Scholarship for Painting.

Recipient of an Australian Postgraduate Research Scholarship.
