Maria Murtagh and Jim Williamson
It has been a tremendous privilege to have had the chance to make pots for over forty years and I am still inspired to continue to experiment with form and glaze surfaces. I love making useful and beautiful pots and I hope to do so for many years to come. All my work is handthrown and fired to 1280 degrees which makes it oven, microwave and dishwasher safe.
I am continually inspired by the paintings and prints of German Expressionists. My work is mostly based on my own photographs; old postcards and views of places that evoke happy times spent with old friends. I like to use a limited pallet and to experiment with composition and colour using a variety of different media including watercolour, oil and gouache.
I try to express my love of favourite places: London, Cheshire, Yorkshire and my birthplace in West Cumberland My prints are a mixture of manipulated photographs and digital paintings with digital collage.
