Kim McLaughlin

Originally a calligrapher, I have grown into an eclectic artist creating with different mediums. I enjoy moving from water colour to acrylic, pastels to charcoal and conté. Sometimes mixing different mediums in the same picture to create the effect I am looking for.

Recent commisions include 'Chester' a French Bulldog painted using pastels and watercolour. I work pastels in layers and fine lines to give the fur depth and rich colour. The watercolour gives looseness and light to balance the painting.

Girl at the window and A View from a Swing are acrylic. Painted from a mix of photograps and imagination. I am enjoying experimenting in painting in a flattened style using tints tones and a limited palette.

I am exhibiting in St Johns Church with several other artists, pop along if you have time, we will be very happy to see you!
