Caroline Thornton

I have spent my life creating and teaching others to create, but now, making original jewellery is part of my artistic practice. These pieces incorporate silver smithing techniques - reticulation, casting and the use of silver clay, or I use my recycled copper from past etching plates or metal from the beach to discover the colourful delights of patinas. Other materials and textures inspire me, sometimes creeping into my work - such as wood, seaglass or found objects.
